New Project-contemporary Cloakroom

Today we would like to share with you a Contemporary cloakroom with a mix of natural finishes, abstract pattern and strong colour. Our brief was to create an unexpected feature of the cloakroom, which leads off from the hallway in the property, whilst maintaining a contemporary and unfussy feel and finish.

We achieved this by using the patterned encaustic tiles on the walls, and wood effect tiles on the floor to bring some warmth to the space. The brass edge trim and black and brass finishes were used to create simple details to tie everything together. We created some drama using dark green paint, which was used on the remaining walls and ceiling to give real contrast against the tiles. Coat Paints ‘Ditch the Tie’ was perfect to create this look.

The space before was very plain and lacked any interest before the renovation. The walls were painted in magnolia and there was a basic basin and toilet. It was a well used space by the growing family, but it wasn’t reflecting any character or life.

Some of the design decisions we made included building a stud wall to house the concealed cistern and use a back to wall toilet so the lines around the room were simplified. The compact, wall hung basin also helped with this and kept the floor area free of any unnecessary clutter. We also decided to use abstract pattern wall tiles, the texture was perfect! The finishing details of the wall lights and mirror were added to ensure the cloakroom had a polished and well considered finish.
